In order to become a lawyer, irregardless of your area of practice, you will first need to complete the standard undergraduate degree program (typically either a 3 or 4 year program depending on your major, the location where you are studying, and if you are studying towards honors degrees etc).
Once you obtain your baccalaureate degree, you have to take (and pass) the Law School Admissions Test (AKA the LSAT exam). You need to score well on this exam, because Law schools will look at both your LSAT score and your cumulative GPA during your undergrad when deciding whether or not to grant you admission.
Next come law school. Typically a 3 year program depending where you live, you will concentrate exclusively on studying law. This is where you can develop further concentration in the law area(s) that interests you.
After graduation, you need to pass the BAR exam. It is a very grueling process that involves a great deal of hard work and study- but once you pass, you’re all set to practice law.
All things considered, the process will typically take 7 years at a minimum. It seems lengthy, but once you’re practicing law, the entire process is very worthwhile.
Best regards
You don’t say which country you are in but you will need a law degree relevant to the country you want to practice in. The number of years will depend on where you are. In UK a degree (e.g. LLB) normally takes 3 years.
After graduation, you will need to get a placement with a firm of lawyers to gain experience and further qualifications.
It’s going to be a lot of work! Good luck.
its very poorly paid crime as a lawyer doesn’t pay…id go for matrimonial…as for what you will need well a little bit of grey matter and a lot of getting up early and going home late! good luck
